A Quiet War Room 50 Days Before the Vote

With the June 3rd local elections only 50 days away, the atmosphere inside the People Power Party (PPP) is tense. Criticism is mounting as the leadership team, which should be leading the charge, was largely missing from a recent key meeting.

"Is this really how a leadership meeting should look just 50 days before an election?" - A frustrated party official

Leadership Abroad and on Personal Business

At a Supreme Council meeting held on the 13th, four out of nine members were absent. Notably, Leader Jang Dong-hyeok and Council Member Kim Min-su are currently in Washington D.C. at the invitation of the International Republican Institute (IRI).

The IRI is a U.S. non-profit organization that works to promote democracy worldwide. While the trip is official business, many party members believe the timing is poor. Critics compare this to a marathon runner stopping for a break right before reaching the final stretch.

Rising Internal Criticism Over Campaign Readiness

The absences aren't limited to the overseas trip. Other council members, including Shin Dong-uk and Kim Jae-won, missed the meeting due to personal schedules or local campaigning. This fragmented appearance is causing anxiety within the party's rank and file.

As the clock ticks down to a crucial vote, the leadership's "Off" status has left many wondering who is steering the ship. Without a unified command during this critical window, candidates on the ground fear they are being left to fight the battle alone.
