Opening the Era of 'Green Hydrogen' Created by Sunlight

Samsung C&T has announced the completion of South Korea's first Green Hydrogen production plant in Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Green hydrogen refers to hydrogen produced by splitting water using renewable energy sources like solar power, meaning it releases zero carbon dioxide during production.

Why is this facility so special?

Previously, hydrogen was mostly produced as a byproduct of burning oil or gas, which unfortunately contributed to air pollution. However, this new plant in Gimcheon utilizes Solar Power Generation (converting sunlight into electricity) to create fuel purely through the power of nature.

"This facility is a crucial first step in proving that we can obtain clean fuel using nothing but water and sunlight."

Positive Changes for Our Future

  • Environmental Protection: It emits only clean water vapor instead of smoke or toxic gases, keeping our air fresh.
  • Infinite Energy: As long as the sun shines, we can continue to produce energy without worrying about running out of resources.
  • Energy Independence: It builds a stable energy environment that is not affected by fluctuating global oil prices.

This plant will play a key role in ensuring a cleaner environment for us as we use electricity in our homes or drive hydrogen-powered vehicles in the future.
